Hey guys, Master Jake here again. Today, I had a user asked me how I found the iexplore.exe shortcut name. Let me just write that down for you real quick, that’s Internet Explorer. That’s its shortcut name right there. That’s basically its actual name or what its called and this is just the program title you know.
So, I’ll show you guys how to find these like if you’re doing batch files and like say you start something that’s something, say you want to start in notepad or something, I mean notepad is just start notepad.exe because it automatically obtains it from the System32 directory. But for more complicated things, I mean something you didn’t know I don’t know I’ll just show you how to figure it out.
So basically, just open the program that you want to figure out a shortcut, name for. I’m going to use Macromedia Flash 8. So, I’m opening it up. Okay, once the program is running and in stable environment, just minimize it then press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Go to your task manager, it might pop up. If you’re on Vista you’ll have to click task manager. And you’ll have once your tab’s up here, you’re going to need to go to the Applications and find the program. You’ll see right here I have Macromedia Flash 8. That’s the program I want to know. Simply right click, move this up a little bit, right click the program under Applications, click Go To Process. It should be on this menu somewhere. Okay and it’ll take you to the Processes tab and then if you look down here you’ll notice that one is highlighted. It says flash.exe. So now, I know that flash.exe is the shortcut name for that program. And of course you can find the directory of the program by right clicking it under Processes and going to open file location. And makes it out of this. You’ll notice up here at the top, if I click in this menu, that is the actual location. So, like right after that I’m going to close the program all up here with another flash, flash.exe because that’s the name—we type the name it opens the program.
So, that’s actually how you find them there. You can use that new knowledge to add to your batch files and be able to open some nice new programs. So, thanks for watching guys. Tune in next time for another tutorial or other video of different sorts. See you guys later.
