Alice Chan: Hi everyone it’s Alice Chan, Staged Home Lifestyle Expert it’s time for another
fieldtrips so I wanted to take you with me to my local home improvement store
and share with you some quick and inexpensive ways that you can easily update
and increase to perceive value of your property. What I am talking about is light
fixtures, now light fixtures are like jewelry in your home but it’s also one of the
easiest ways that you can date your property. If you ever walking to a home and
take a look at the light fixtures you can many times no exactly when the house
was built or when was the last renovated. So want to be able to transform your
home and update it without breaking the banks so come along with me and we are
going to Lowes home improvement warehouse. Now obvious you don’t need to
go to Lowes and you can go to any of your local home improvement stores but
this is one that I went too to pick up a lot of the light fixtures that I used for a lot
of my clients so let’s go.
Okay everyone so we’re inside and we’re going to head on over to the lighting
department here at Lowes and there’s a lot of options to choose from as you can
see. They’ve got bath bars; will talk about each one we will thought. Fence up
here, we’ve got wall sconces, chandeliers, these ceiling mount light fixtures which
I am going to show you are one of the best ways that you can updated property
and it doesn’t have to be expensive at all. I mean we’re not going to anything
that’s real our need obviously we want to make it as neutral as possible to feel to
as many people as possible and I will show you the one that I used a lot and it’s
this one down here. It’s by portfolio called the flash mount ceiling fixtures let’s
see here. Let’s got a bronze frame around it and it’s only $17.88 so it really, really
inexpensive so if you have and I’ve seen this a lot in homes where you have this
tiny little lights in your ceiling, this would be a great way to update it immediately
and again $18 less than $18. Okay I found that they have these two packs now
that are a really great deal if you take a look here it is a $19.98 for two ceiling
mounts, two flash mounts which is an awesome deal and take a look at this
they’ve got the brace chrome options as well as the bronze options and that’s what
they look like.
I’ll take a look here and these are 13 inches and wait don’t forget that you are
going to go and buy some light bulbs for this also. But that’s something look like,
it’s a great option and took about some of this chandeliers and I will tell you
which ones I personally like and I find to be the best deal. Okay so here’s the one
that I like for the hind it and it’s called the three light levy inverted pendant and
it’s a $100.19 and I find that one to be a really great deal, especially in smaller
dining rooms or in breakfast, snack areas it’s a quick and inexpensive and very
classy way to update it. Now in this line we have matching chandeliers, here is
much larger one for your larger space easy whether it be an entry or in a large
dining room there is a nine light, low less in there called and it’s $238 you can see
that. You got a slightly smaller version for a $168 as you could see from there it’s
a five lights if you can see that okay. And they’ve got other options around and
there is a nine light for $219 that’s like a rag oil bonds look. Now, I prefer this
bronze rag oil looks over the stainless steel only because I find that it goes in
homes and it looks better and most homes than the brass nickel or the stainless
steel look. Stainless steel is really more contemporary and you know yes, it’s
updated but some times it looks really out of place so something to keep in mind.
So here are some of those nickel and more stainless steel looks and I just don’t
think they translate as well into as many properties as the black or the bronze once
that I’ve showed you earlier. Here’s one that might work and I love it, I would tell
you this one which I see quite a bit has the groves in there it’s a nightmare to
clean I highly recommend against that only because that’s the practical proud of
me speaking. While I’m here I’m going to show you some of the light fixtures
that you may currently have your home that I would recommend that you replace
out. So if you’ve got this glove looking light fixtures or this really unattractive
spotlight looking fixtures in your home replace them out with some of the options
I share with you today or something better and you don’t want to go if really
small light fixtures either I am sure in a closet because it just don’t shade enough
lights so we have this here I think because if you’ve really honestly wanted to
replace at the same exact thing you currently have you have that option that I
would advice against to.
So let’s go down and take a look at this particular wall mount that goes very well
with the other light fixtures I’ve shared with you today it’s only less than $30 it’s
$29.98 and it’s very nice. And we’ve got other options here that are also really
inexpensive and it really make this huge difference in the proceed value of your
property and immediately update too which is our goal today. And here’s another
type of lighting that a lot of builders like to use because they’re very inexpensive
and they’re called Hollywood strip lights because the bulb is you know light bulbs
are great here. So if you want to replace that with the more attractive light fixtures
there is a couple of options here that I would say that you want to take advantage
of one is this and ones right here and remember you want to take a look at what
you currently have and count how many lights are in your existing fixture or
measure how wide the space you have available so that you don’t end up with
something that’s a little too small or something that too big. And once you replace
that you may you have to do some touch up the paint but you know that’s the least
to be a concerns and again these are very inexpensive they usually come there is
two laid options, there is three laid options four, five, six and higher but let me
show you here that you can get a single one for about $30, we’ve got four light
four light fixture for $82 and get one for a three light that’s $54 and very
inexpensive. Okay these are the bronze look that looks very nice and very
complementary to the other like pictures that I’ve been showing you, let’s take a
look at $68 for a three light fixtures for this vanity bars. But return investment that
you are going to get from updating your lighting is going to be huge. Well I hope

can update your property. Again, lighting is like the jewelry in the home and it’s
so important to increase the perceive value of your property by updating the light
fixtures and as you can see nothing that I should you here today was very
expensive. And visit your local home improvement stores and see what you can
find and have fun with it okay because the return on investment is going to be
