Hi, this is James from Craftmarketer.com, with the videos series, “The 10 most asked questions about selling your crafts and the 10 questions that you should be asking.” This is video 17.
A frequently asked question is “Where can I get craft supplies with the lowest prices?” Well, if you’re making crafts to sell lowering your constant materials is going to increase your profit.
Buying craft supplies at your local hardware store is probably not the best way to save money unless the store is having a sale or going out of business. Let’s look at three ways of finding low cost supplies to make crafts run.
eBay.com, go to the crafts category and then look for a wholesale lots or just do a search for quilting supplies or knitting yarns or whatever it is you’re used to make your craft item.
Another way to cut cost is to make craft items from a recycled material, junk that has been thrown away. Still, another way to find low cost materials, go direct to the manufacturer. The Thomas Register list most of the major manufacturers by product. See a copy in your library or go to ThomasNet.com.
Note that most manufacturers require a re-sale number and they will only sell to you if you appeared to be a dealer or a store. The question you should be asking is, how do I start a craft supply business? Watch the next video for the answer.
