Hi! I am Beatrix and I am a talent manager and today we are going to talk about how to find an agent. Finding an agent can be a very easy process, it can be a very challenging process. So when you are looking for an agent, you want someone who really believes in you and how can advocate well for you, and that usually comes from someone who finds you as a post that someone that you find. One of the things that I have noticed when working with clients is that the agents who can best advocate for them are the ones that really see them and see the talent they have and understand how they can fit them in or where they can place them, that will be most effective for their careers.
When you are looking for other types of agents, let's say a literary agent. You want to find the agent that works in the type of area that you are working at, so if you are looking for someone who publishes and non profiting, when you are looking for an agent and literary you want to find someone who really works in the type of environment that you work in and if you want to go with small literary agent, you probably will get more attention and they probably be more engaging for you. When you go for a bigger agent, they might have a broader array of contacts, at the same time, you might get lost in the fall. So I think the the first thing you really want to think about is you want to go with -- the first thing you really want to think about is what size of an agency you want. If you want more personalized attention then you are going to want to go from more boutique agency. If you want more code access, then you are going to want to go for a bigger agency.
Keeping in mind what I talked about at the beginning, though that you really want someone who understands you and can advocate for you. And sometimes that doesn't always come in the specific agency that you are looking at, it comes in someone else but you want someone who is hungry, who can support you, and you really feel that their assistance in helping your career can make a big difference both for you and for them.
So in conclusion, I would say, you want to just make sure that your agent gets you, that your agent supports you, and that your agent understands what your career goals are, and can help you get there.
This is Bean Beatrix and I am talking about how to find an agent.
