How to Finish Concrete

Dean: Hey, I’m Dean.

Derek: I’m Derek and we are on the set of indoors out.

Dean: And we are going to give you some tips on finishing concrete. Number one, make sure you get yourself a really good screed board. Now you can get a 2 x 4 that’s perfectly straight or you can get yourself a metal one which is the best and after you screed you want to make sure you're getting the air out of the concrete. You can use and select an electric vibrator or tool that you can rent and that brings the air out of the concrete so there’s no honeycomb going on.

Now when you finish your vibrating you get yourself a big full of float. It looks like a huge trolley and you pull it back and fort making sure you get that concrete perfectly leveled and pitched.

Depending on the temperature of the day after you boat float and you need to weight a little bit or if it’s really hot you need to get on it with the hand trolley. You want to bring the clean to the top because now you’re starting to do some finishing. Now after that cream starts to dry and you have a perfect with your hand troll you want to get yourself a bristle broom and give it a light sweep across. We do that because we don’t want perfectly smooth concrete because when it gets wet or cold your done and slipping and then you got to end with a broken back, a broken ankle.

And then when you’re done you invite the family and friends over and say “Hey, I did it myself”. Look at this concrete, I’m not going to slip on this it’s beautiful.
