This is Carol Macht from Forever Yours. And I’m back with Barbara Norfolk from our shop in Glen Burney, Maryland. And we’re showing you how preserve flowers. We’re just creating a stand for Barbara to work on. We have a hole in a little base and again one of this handy dandy acrylic tubes and that’s just going to give Barbara a workspace with our loamy so that she can operate.
Some of the tools we’re going to use our some pliers, long neck and short neck pliers. We have some snips floral tape. And we also used some basal paint, colored paint when we’re working with the preserve greens because greens are colorful and they will eventually loose their color entirely.
Barbara if you would like to show how we wrap and start floating the flowers? What Barbara is doing as she’s going to straighten out that wire and then covered with the green floral tape, so that the wire is completely hidden. Our objective is to make sure that if you look inside the bouquet that you never see any portion of the workings of the bouquet but if you do, we wanted to be green.
And she’s going to take each of the flowers and straighten it, puts a floral tape on. We’re just going to do that with two flowers, so that you can see how that’s done. This is much like you do it with the fresh flowers stem. And the tape is an especial kind of tape that’s stick to itself as you’re working with it.
And then she’s going to be working starting with around bouquet from the top to down. And you press it straighten to the loamy and you’re going to continue doing that all the way around. Assuming that she has now putting all her flower, she’ll be able to start putting in greens and the way that we work with the greens is we break them up into smaller parts allowing a small stem from each of the pieces of baker’s fern and she’s going to put those into the loamy at the positions where it looks attractive.
As she works to complete this, you should think creatively about other items that you can add. This is a completed bouquet and you can see that they are no accents inside the bouquet. Somebody has their wedding invitation in there. The inside looks slightly cold so that it fits more easily into the case. There’s a boot in here. We have many clients who bring in pieces of jewelry and other things, and they will have a tiara or other items that are putting inside there. And it’s also very popular to have bouquet jewels. All little accents and you may not be able to see this very easily but these little pears inside this bouquet and of course the wrap has pearls and other accents on it.
