Hi Everybody on YouTube! This is Roger, The ExBassGuide again. Let's talk about some springtime fishing techniques, specifically water movement. This will help you locate and catch more bass in the spring.
I am talking about lakes that have a fair amount of shallow water, but a couple sunny days, this shallow water can superheat. This water can quickly reach low to mid 60s. That's the time I pay attention to wind direction. This wind can blow the superheated water into places that will attract bass, like bays, pockets and ditches. The wind tends to move the warmest part of the water column, and that's the surface.
So when I go fishing, I fish areas that have been downwind of the flat areas, the areas with the warm water accumulation. Doesn't need to be very big to hold quite a few fish. I look for brush on the edge of bays, pockets, and ditches that have been accessed to this warm water, and that's one of the big keys in the lake that I guided down in my home lake.
This will work on lakes that don't have as much shallow water, but you need to look more at sheltered pockets on the North shore. The wind won't be able to blow this warm water once it warms up after a few sunny days, and that's a great place to hit. In the afternoon, when the water warms up and you have already got warm water to begin with.
So water movement is really a good key. You always want to also focus on Northwest corner of the lake; the Northeast can be good, but the North shore gets a lot more sun. So focus on water movement. That warm water in the shallows can move it to other shorelines and pockets, and hold there for a while. It will attract fish, and you will get a lot of fish and some big bass that way.
Try it out, and let me know what you think. I will see you on YouTube again. Thanks a lot.
