How to Fold an Origami Bow-Tie

Here I’ll show you how to make a bow tie out of a dollar. Start by folding in half the long way. Make a good crease and then unfold. Now we’re going to take these corners and fold them in towards that middle line. And let’s rotate this and do the same thing on the other end. Next, take the straight edge and fold it in towards the middle crease. We’ll keep this symmetrical by rotating and doing the same thing on the other side. Take your dollar by the pointed ends and fold it in half. Now we’re going to have to inside reverse fold these corners. To do that fold, these corners in towards the middle. Make sure you have a good crease and then unfold the corner. Use the creases you’ve made as guidelines and push the corner in. That’s an inside reverse fold.

We’ll have to do that on the other side. If it’s a little tricky, fold the corner back in the opposite direction to make an extra and then try it. Now fold the flaps with the dollar bill back towards this imaginary line right here. Now we’re going to take these corners and fold them in towards the middle. Do this on both the left and right sides and then flip over and repeat. Now that we have all four corners folded down we’re going to open this up by pulling the flaps down and out. And there is your dollar bow tie. If you don’t like these pointed tips, simply fold them back and tuck them out of the way.
