“Coastline” – composed and performed by Kashan Shaikh
Here actually how to making origami box. You are going to need two square sheet of paper. I will be using 12” x 12” scrapbook paper to make a nice big box.
[Demo]
We will start by folding in half.
[Demo]
And unfold and fold the half in toward the middle.
[Demo]
Unfold again and rotate the page, fold them in halves again from the other direction.
[Demo]
Then unfold again and fold this new half in towards the middle like we did before.
[Demo]
When you are done your page should have 16 squares folded into it. Next, we will take the top corners and fold them down.
[Demo]
Then fold the top quarter of the page down.
[Demo]
Turn the sheet over and take the top corner and fold them down toward the middle.
[Demo]
You should have square diamond shape in the middle of the sheet.
[Demo]
Next fold the bottom corners up towards the middle.
[Demo]
This will cover up the square down in shape.
[Demo]
Now, lift up one of the flat we just created and push the corner in and down under that flat.
[Demo]
We will repeat this on the other side.
[Demo]
Now, take these flops and slides them underneath so that square diamond shape is shown again.
[Demo]
Finally, slide your finger under the middle line from both sides and pull out.
[Demo]
We may need to rework the creases a little to give box more definite shape.
[Demo]
And there is a bottom of our box.
[Demo]
Now, I will show you how to make a lid for the box from a second sheet paper.
[Demo]
We will start the box top pretty much the same we did at the bottom of the box.
[Demo]
I am going to make these folds in a different sequence but we still going to end up with the sheet that has 16 square fold identically.
[Demo]
Now, that we have our sheet in 16 square take top corners and fold it down like we did before.
[Demo]
This time we are going to take the top quarter of the sheet and folded in half.
[Demo]
Now, fold the side corners in towards the middle.
[Demo]
We are going to fold the bottom quarter of the page up and start to pull out these flaps.
[Demo]
This is somewhat delicate work and you need to massage the paper a little bit but just keep following the guidelines that we made and you will get it eventually.
[Demo]
Next fold these triangular flaps in towards the middle.
[Demo]
Do this on both sides of course.
[Demo]
From the middle hold the flops down and out.
[Demo]
This will be cost part of the sheet to stand up.
[Demo]
We will take a second here just to make sure that we have good creases.
[Demo]
And here we have lid to our box. To attach the lid to the box, we will slide the triangle flaps right under this slit here.
[Demo]
The first few times you try to close box, it might resist you a little, but after the paper gets used to the creasing, it gets easier.
