How to Fold an Origami Kirigami Dove

Hi! I’m Tilly from activityvillage.co.uk. And today I’m going to show you how to make these kirigami doves. Kirigami means origami but using cutting. Start with the square piece of origami paper and fold it in half like this making sure it comes back up. Open the top again and turn the top two corners in to the middle line like this. Fold this in half and turn it on its side like this. Now, turn the head down like this and crease then turn the same row as the other side and using the same line, turn it back over. Now open up the whole piece and push the head through in to here, so that when you close it, the head is poking out underneath. Now turn it over until it’s on the side, mark a little dot in roughly the center of the bird and then another one over halfway down on the side and another in the corner. If we zoom in, you’ll be able to see it more clearly. Now, take the scissors a line from the dot on the outside to the dot in the middle and then a wavy line to make the bird look pretty from the other dot to the center. And then you take this piece off. To make the bird look even more pretty, cut another wavy line along this section. So now you’ve got your bird and all you need to do is fold up the wing.

Now this section of the bird is going to be the wing. Take the top flap and fold it up so that it sticks out to the top of the bird and turn this over and do the same on the other side with the other flap. Here, is your origami bird, just stand the top like that. This look really pretty decorating a table or a mantle piece or you could hang them on a Christmas or in a mobile.
