Today we are going to make a type of lotus flower. There is a way to make a lotus flower with one square sheet of paper, put this side. For this fold we are going to need six rectangular sheets, the sheets I am using are 4x7 centimeters, take the rectangle and fold it in half the long way. Then fold the corners on both ends and towards the middle.

Next, fold this flap towards the middle.

You are going to need a total of six of these things. Your lotus will look best if you use two different colors. Three leaves at one color and three petals in one color. Take the leaves and fold them in half so the flaps are hidden. Now, take the pedals and fold on the opposite way so you can still see the flops. Now, slide the leaves into the pedals.

Next, we are going to take the three petals and leaf combinations and bind them together. You can use string or rubber band or whatever. I am using a small piece of yellow pipe cleaner so that is going to look likes there is pollen inside.

After you have bound them, pinch down the piece on either side of the middle to make this star shape. Next start to gently curl the petals up. You want to be careful not to tear the paper, it works best if you start at the tip and gently curl back. You should go and sequential order so that the petals overlap slightly.

Now that the petals are done, we are going to start on the leaves; push them down in the middle with your thumb and let the tip curl up naturally. I like this fold because it is little easier than the ones you have fold and in my opinion it looks better and there is your lotus.
