Male Speaker: The ninth part of the serve is the follow through. From contact, I continue to pronate after I've hit the tennis ball and I want to point the tennis racquet down at the court like I am doing here. From this position, I bring the racquet around to the other side of my body.
Now, let's go back to contact and watch what my feet are doing as I follow through. Since I jumped when I served, I need to land on my front foot, which is going to be my right foot since I'm left handed but if you are a righty then you are going to land on your left foot. I land on my front foot and all my weight is on that foot because I'm kicking my back foot up and that allows me to stay balanced as I follow through.
This is Andy Roddick shortly after he's made contact with the tennis ball and as he follows through, he points the racquet down at the court. As he continues to follow through, he will land on his front foot like he has done here, all the weight is on that foot, he's got his back foot kicked up and that's going to help him stay balanced as he follows through. You are going to also see he's begun to bring the tennis racquet around to the other side of his body and if we clip to a picture from behind of the completion of his follow through, you can see he's brought the tennis racquet all the way around to the other side of his body. He is still on his front foot, again all the weight is there and he's got his back foot kicked up.
