Hey, it’s Vince Del Monte here from VinceDelMonteFitness.com and YourSixPackQuest.com and I wanted to talk to you about how to gain weight.
So, I’m speaking to guys, maybe a gals who need to build some new muscle mass on their body to enhance they physiques. And there is the right way of doing this and there is a wrong way. You’ll see a lot of guys who want to gain weight use it as a justification for going and eating in lots of fast food, eating a lot of dirty food to just pack on weight.
And I’m assuming that because you want to gain weight, you want to actually build quality weight which is muscle tissue so how are we going to do that.
The first thing is understand that just because you take in more calories that you consumed, it doesn’t mean your body is going to create more muscle. Your body can only build new muscle based on your genetics and based on the amount of hormones ion your body. So just because your meal plan is you eat 4000 calories, 7000 isn’t going to make it better because your body can only create so much muscle tissue once.
So, the first step to gaining weight is you do it in small increments and typically you want to be a in about 500 calorie surplus and that will allow you gain weight steadily so that you don’t get a big bulky midsections, so you don’t get skinny, so you that don’t get that big muscle mass but a pop-belly at the same time. Gaining weight is also a function for the hormones you create in your body which is why body builders take testosterone and growth hormone and other kinds of hormone that help control their hormones or to help manipulate their hormones.
And what we want to do obviously because you’re trying to do this the natural way, we want to eat the right kind of fats, we want to train with the right kind of intensity. I’ll give you an example, lifting heavyweight helps you increase testosterone and growth hormone in your body, those are two hormones that help create more muscle mass in your body, focusing on large muscle groups. Train your body as a unit and not just as an isolated body part. It will also help create more hormones in your body, lifting heavyweights instead of lifting lightweights, that’s going to help create a hormonal response to build muscle.
So, to gain weight, you got to do those two things, be in the caloric surplus but in small increments and also you need to have a weight training program designed to create the right hormones in your body. So I hope I make sense, if you need a complete program, go to VinceDelMonteFitness.com or YourSixPackQuest.com and I’ll teach you the whole thing there.
