How to Generate Power when Hitting

We are talking a little bit about hitting and the concept of popping those hips and generating power with your swing and there are some hitting to some cues, I think the key to coaching is you have to, you learn to save things many different ways to get a player to understanding it.

You will never know what makes the light bulb go off. A common thing you hear is about squashing the bug with his back foot and we are just talking purely about the backside here and how you hit. What we talk about is squashing the bug allows you to hop and get that front hit clear and get the back through with just the simple time and I always tell kids because on my team, my 13 year old team. A lot of those kids like to play golf too and I talk about the difference between the golf swing and the baseball swing and the golf swing you finished on the front and you finished with everything through the ball. On baseball, you finished with everything going into the bat and your body back.

You are trying to transfer the weight from your backside and your hips and your power from your thighs into the bat. Everything stays back, I see more hitters who end up hitting on the front side of their foot as opposed to and which means they are loosing power as opposed to generating as much path speed as they can into the bat with their body back. It is an important key, is squashing the bug makes you keep you a body back.
