Rolly is a web master with the great community with about 10 thousand per day. Hey says many of the people are not familiar with forums and act very badly, very poorly. So, I decided write these top five for you.
Now as I read over this I started to realize you know this applies to chat as well, really any online community of rules and behavior that is number one. Read the rules, you may have been to other online forums and gather around there smoothly but if you are joining a new community you have to read the roles. You maybe doing something that every new member who did not read the rules does it and in the worst cases get band.
Read the roles and follow them. Now we do not have rules posted to the web anywhere for our chat room in the livevideofeed@live.pirillo.com but we do have buts that respond to common questions. The button lines is be courteous, be kind and treat as people you would expect to be treated and you will be fine. You will get this into the swing things before it too long.
Number two no leet speak. Post that contained leet speak are not always easy to understand. this is very geekish way of writing as Rolly suggest. For example it is actually written L337 but you read it Lite short for elite. Leet speak is even disallowed on some websites, you use proper English and spell check your writing. Do everything to look as engaged as possible, do not use caps lock for your messages it makes you look damn and you for sure not receive a valuable response.
Number three I just said this have manners it applies everywhere the worst things is people who joined the site and request people to do everything for them. If the site has an introduction forum, introduce your self to the community. If you have a problem do not ask people to do things for you, do what you can to figure out how to do it and in worst case ask how to do what you want.
We have people asking questions on our chat room all the time happens in forum as well in some cases their answer could be handle through quick search in Google, other cases are asking for specific information that they are not sure how to find it and other people may have quick answer too. Sometimes they are looking for shopping product device and they post links and I always say just please use tagjag.com to do shopping searches.
We also have an affiliate program with newegg and I think tigerdirect as well. We are looking for better ways to integrate those links into the chat room so that you can get help and then for providing that service for you we can get a compensated for it.
Okay, so numbers four try to help others. It is not just about receiving it is also lot giving. When you have been in the community for while you may know more than the average user.
Use your intelligence to help people, tell them what they did wrong and tell them how to do what they want moderators cannot help all users. Users are there to help and get help that is very important I mean so many people have come into our chat and it become, what is a productive chatters and for this they were awarded with what we call voice that allows them to participate when we record the live videos. For instance, if I do something very dangerous and I have noted to do dangerous things at times.
I am going to do something that I probably should not do, I am going to un-moderate the chat room for just a second, just a brief seconds and we will see how many people are chatting. I know it is very dangerous, danger is my middle name actually my middle name is Switzerland. So, now people if calculate my chat up does not lock up which I think it has, I thinks I just stored chat in a video.
On voice users will be able to write something in this video just to say hello or what not. This is something that I believe is important to evoke a sense of belonging. It does not matter who you are or your background if you have information to share we love you communities will love you. You can start anytime, anywhere.
Number five, search before posting and I have to tell you I know chat is locked up right now so got like close to 400 people in chat so it is frozen. Give me a couple second I am sure to continue to jug but anyway search before posting kind of eluded with this too but just a flash out this tip. Always search before posting about a matter every comment forum system has a search that allows you to search to every post on the forum. Many things can answer several times because some users do not searched before they make their request. They will help the moderators so they can focus on other things inside itself so it does not field loads of the same stuff.
