How to Get Beautiful, Glowing Skin
Audra Lowe: Are you ready for some Better Beauty? Well hopefully so, because this time it might seemed pretty basic but you probably aren’t taking the best care of your skin. Sorry to tell you that. Well there’s no cookie cutter routine, Better’s beauty expert Jennifer Walsh, she’s here to show us and then guide us on how we can get the radiant glowing skin that we all want.
Jennifer Walsh: Absolutely.
Audra Lowe: Not everything works for every single person, right Jen?
Jennifer Walsh: That’s so true, that’s so true and then there’s just so many options out there but lot of you will think well I have to have my cleansing this way and I have to do this, I have to do that.
Audra Lowe: Because we keep throwing steps at you all the time right.
Jennifer Walsh: I know. I know all the time. So there are all bunches of steps but you don’t have to do all of them all the time, it really depends on your skin type. And now well I say go to a dermatologist first.
Audra Lowe: Okay.
Jennifer Walsh: If you have any skin issues that out of normal besides being really dry and really oily just something different, definitely a dermatologist know, they’ll be the ones to really direct you and the they doctors.
Audra Lowe: And the tip that you’re giving us today is it mainly towards women or is it?
Jennifer Walsh: Oh, both, both of men and women.
Audra Lowe: Okay.
Jennifer Walsh: The first thing is obviously we hear about cleansing.
Audra Lowe: It’s so important.
Jennifer Walsh: It is so important and I see people that grab this bar of soap and I'm thinking “Oh, my God that’s really drying for your skin”.
Audra Lowe: There are so many other options out there.
Jennifer Walsh: Yeah. And these are the options. Go -- if you can sometimes you are tired. Go and take like a little makeup wipe at night and just go ahead and take the daily debris off or they have foaming cleansers or even a milky cleanser. And turby say it’s a great tolerance cleanser which is great to really get rid of all the daily stresses environment. You know all the environment, to oily skin and it’s just good, just to wash the daily grime off.
Audra Lowe: When you use the wipes too, you still have to wash your face after -- it not just come back temporarily?
Jennifer Walsh: Actually that’s your cleanser that’s it.
Audra Lowe: Cleanser and a wipe.
Jennifer Walsh: And it's really simple, just go and take it like that. And it just takes your product right off your face. And you know this is for men and woman. Some guys use this too.
Audra Lowe: Okay.
Jennifer Walsh: So yeah, just go and take the day off.
Audra Lowe: You got it in level.
Jennifer Walsh: It's really simple.
Audra Lowe: It is a big question because people are saying who should use it, how often should you use it and why are we using it.
Jennifer Walsh: Toner is basically there to even out the pH level on your skin. All you want to do is really make sure your skin is evenly -- and all this does is put the pH level back into your skin. So use different kinds of toners, these are often Kiehl’s. There are many brands have lots of different options again depending on how oily your skin or as how dry, there are different ingredients.
Audra Lowe: Are we going to see a difference in our skin just by using it or is it mostly what you got to know.
Jennifer Walsh: It’s basically out of pH it's just going to really help normalized your skin and also you can do this, every morning, every night or one of this you meet. Because sometimes, your skin might not always be cleansed after this, your like “Okay, I really had a big day in the park” where I was running or doing something athletic.
Audra Lowe: Right.
Jennifer Walsh: You're going to use this like a tissue or towel.
Audra Lowe: Now let’s talk about exfoliating and then moisturizing it.
Jennifer Walsh: Yeah.
Audra Lowe: How often should we be exfoliating that’s a great question every day or?
Jennifer Walsh: That’s depends on your skin type again. But there are so many different kind of exfoliants. This is a gentle buffing cream from Caudalie which I love but they also have glycolics which is also is basically an exfoliant as well. It's just a chemical. So basically it depends on your skin type and you can exfoliate up to three times a week. Again it depends on your skin because if you are very cystic acne, you’d be careful because you don’t want to spread the acne further also ruing your skin any further.
Audra Lowe: Make it worst.
Jennifer Walsh: Yeah.
Audra Lowe: Moisturizing very quickly should we be flattering it on.
Jennifer Walsh: Depending on your skin, if you want to look for a lotion cream or gel cream depending on your skin type if you have oily skin look for lotion if you have really dry skin a combination look for something in a cream and always use a mask as well ones a week at least. And that come in clay, they come in lotions, they come in gels again depending your skin type.
Audra Lowe: And I have a little demonstration.
Jennifer Walsh: Yes, she does.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, I do. Oh, here’s the mask.
Jennifer Walsh: These are wonderful again.
Audra Lowe: Men should use a mask too.
Jennifer Walsh: Men should use a mask too ones a week.
Audra Lowe: And take a look at aside.
Jennifer Walsh: Isn’t that great look at the rose petal and this looks like the cream and this are from fresh but they're great examples of you don’t have to be cookie cutter something that is there like, I have to use clay or I have to use as -- this are great wonderfully hydrating mask.
Audra Lowe: This would scare my husband though.
Jennifer Walsh: Oh, it smells so good though.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, it looks like--
Jennifer Walsh: And look -- it’s a rose soup that’s what it is.
Audra Lowe: But it makes your face feel so much better after you use it, right.
Jennifer Walsh: It does. It really, really hydrates your skin especially going into the fall and winter.
Audra Lowe: Yeah.
Jennifer Walsh: We need more hydration.
Audra Lowe: Hold my hand please. Yeah, I'm very happy that you're here. Thank you Jennifer, all right we’ll see you next time.
Jennifer Walsh: Thank you.
Audra Lowe: We’ll be back after this, thank you very much.
Jennifer Walsh: Thank you.
