If you happen to run a start up new business or small business you need corporate publicity and PR exposure, let me give you a couple of tips here to get that type of exposure in either free or very low cost ways.
The first one of course are free methods. You have several ways you could do this. If you have either big announcements for your company and you happen to be on a very little budget, you can actually get exposure if nothing else a lot of links linking to your website using our free press release service. There are various press release services you can get just by going to Google or Yahoo or another search engine. You can also create a press release and send it to one or few selected media contacts that you know, that relevant magazines, newspapers, trade journals etcetera. You can give them an exclusive and that should help get you some free exposure in a way that it gets in front of the target eyeballs that you want.
You can also do cross promotions with non-competing companies. For example, if you’re an auto-dealer and you want to get new people in the door and you happen to have another cross sponsor who you think you may not competing. Let’s say a tire shop, for example, if you’re not selling tires. You could actually do a cross promotions to market each others list to get people to come to a joint event and that would be a free way. Or you can simply cross promote each other by having each other’s literature at relative stores. Again, nothing fancy but it is a good free method to get extra exposure for your company and then using the free methods of search engine optimization, blog posts, articles, video distributions, all of those are free methods. They just take a little bit of time.
And also you should know your desired outcome of course with all of this. Make sure you ask yourself specifically what you do want as a result of the exposure. there are three possibilities and there are more. First of all, I’m just getting more traffic. For walk in customers, more appointments made, more website visitors etcetera.
You can also be using it to build good will. Whether that’s repairing damage from perceived negative publicity, overcoming the negativity from a competitor’s advertising, you name it, building good will is a potential desired outcome. Or you can simply use your exposure to survey your market and really find tune what the market is looking for for future products and services and your revenue streams.
The other low cost methods are pay press release service where per $80.00 to $200.00, you can get a lot of exposure both nationally and with extra emphasis in your geography. You could do a very low dollar paper click campaign for numerous things against surveying, getting new website visitors to turn into costumers, etcetera and you have a lot of ways to get conversions, click through rates and optimization within the paper click realm.
You can do bulk rate advertising in selective media. Just make sure that they have a sufficient number of qualified eyeballs and that means it’s just not saying that we have a circulation of 100,000. Their ad placement may be bad. It could not necessarily work your favor and it all possible, you’re going to have an article written about your advertorial in there and make sure that you’re really in front of the targeted eyeballs and with a specific call to action. You just don’t want to sit there and say, “Hey, look at me, I’m great.” You actually wanted to take specific action as a result of your ad or your advertorial. If you happen to be a member of your local chamber of commerce and it’s appropriate, you could do speeches at your chamber of commerce, in the Collin County, Texas area for example, members are allowed to give a 30-second commercial every week at a breakfast meeting. You could do something similar or conversely, you can even host an event and get a chance to speak there to get exposure if you’re looking for a local audience in the B to B market and of course attending local fairs or events to get a personal touch to your prospects if that’s appropriate or even a national trade show where you have a chance to get a personal touch, where to get some local exposure.
And then, becoming perceived as an authority, speaking at relevant events such as becoming a keynote speaker or in a breakout session, becoming a speaker. And the main thing, as you want to get the video, audio or transcripts to give away to prospects in the futures. Also having an article or interview with you published in a respective third party media. So having an interview in a company trade journal handed out will not be the same as if you are speaking about using autodealearship if there’s motor trend weekly or some magazine like that where they feature you in an interview or an article you published. That gives greater degree of credibility and authority to prospects.
And then being able to sell or give away relevant how to information, you can use it as a low dollar lead generation tool and it builds your respect in the eyes of your prospects as an authority.
