How to Get Good Sunglasses Optical Quality
Most people think about the fact that you only have one set of eyes. High velocity test takes supporter inch ball bearing and fires it at the lens at a speed of 163 kilometers an hour from a distance of eight inches.
I put the lens on the dummy, load the quarter inch PB and you can see that the protection is absolutely nonexistent and you knew that. Everybody has dropped a glass. Everybody has done all of kinds of things with their glasses with things made of glass. With plastic, it has the same type of effect. Oakley Plutonite which is a purified form of polycarbonate offers a higher level of protection. You can see that the only thing there is a little scratch. You can actually see two because this test was done before.
The second test is the more vicious and the more impressive of the two. It’s a high mass that was developed. Take a 500 gram pointed spike and they drop it from a four foot height. We’ve extended it to six feet to show how much we exceed expectations. This is a plastic lens and you can see that it’s really not offering any protection whatsoever. The Oakley sun glasses with the Plutonite material with the same test offers protection that is far superior. You can see that lens didn’t pop out. There is just a little dent. If you look at the lens on its own, you can see exactly what happened. You’ve got your dent and that’s pretty much it.
So again, people don’t think about impact protection. People don’t consider the fact that when you are paying hundreds of dollars you might not be getting the highest level optical quality. You might not be getting the highest level impact protection. These are the things that are at most importance. It’s a basic requirement, fashion side is super important but it’s secondary. You’ve got to have that first and you don’t want to compromise on your fashion. That’s something you can get with any pair of Oakley sun glasses.
