So, this top five list starts out, Chris with people making New Year’s resolutions at this time of the year, I thought this would be a good topic for you to share on your show, it is based on the FITT principle, fit. I kept the basic and attempt to hopefully motivate a fellow gigs to stay fit, to get fit and to learn to be more healthy.
Number one, frequency, you have to workout regularly in order to see positive changes in your body. If you want to loose weight for example, you only need to increase your aerobic activity level. You will need to regularly workout three or five times per week and this is one of the reasons why I like the gazelle, in fact a long time ago, way back when I started my YouTube account, I uploaded me working out on the gazelle and playing the X-box 360. So most likely, when I am working out in on my gazelle, I am going to have a live video stream of me working out on my gazelle, playing video games.
Number two, intensity, work hard and good things will happen. You have to strive to work just a bit harder than your last workout or you will not make improvements. If you are doing push-ups and the most you can do is 25, the next time try it to 26. To incorporate technology in your workout, buy a heart rate monitor and spend more time when you are trying your heart rate in each consecutive workout.
One of the things that I have learned when I was in my routine on the gazelle is you know again, I would go for about an hour long and find that I could maintain, but the reason why I played video games was so that I could increase my adrenalin level and it worked you know, like a charm. Why did I stop doing it? I got busy. I started live streaming and honestly I have met my goal and so I kind of coated for a while, I have to hide back on though if only because I know kind of need to do it, not just for weight maintenance but also for heart health.
In excel the reason why I love it, its no impact. I have tried so many other exercise machines and I keep going back to the gazelle and again you will see me demonstrating it live at live.pro.com soon enough. Three type, do both resistance as like push-ups, sit-ups, free weights etcetera and aerobic, running, swimming, biking etcetera at every workout.
I did not really do that much resistance and quite honestly, I know I probably should but I am not trying to build muscle or anything, I am just trying to get in some kind of a heart activity and that is the reason why I ended up sticking with aerobics.
Number four, time. Time is the most simple, divide your resistance workouts into at least three sets of ten to 15 minute reps. Your aerobic workouts should last at least 20 minutes but could and should be longer. One of the things for the time, it does note this and this is accurate. Instead of doing like 45 minute workout of like weights, do three sets of ten to 15 minutes long and the easiest way to do this is like if you wherever you are at like if you go to work, bring in some free weights, just some small hand held weights and do them. You know like boom, boom, boom or whatever. I use to keep my free weights out so that as I walk by and I am like chaos ride, I got to do 10 minutes, did it but I have them kind of been my way and it has not been that easy for awhile because I have not made time for it, so that is very important.
Number five, fun for having sake, do something you enjoy, you like to swim, swim, if you like to run, run, if you are doing something like chances are you will stick with it and it will become a habit.
Rob, that is very true, I appreciate that top five list. The fun part is very important, that is one reason why I mixed video games with working out on the gazelle, worked out like charm but at least when I was doing it. So, I just have to do it again and that is my New Year’s resolution but I am not going to start it until I get back from my trip. And the reason why is because if I started now and I go to my trip, I will break my stride and I know how I work, I can hack myself knowing that I will not pick it up again. So why will likely be the best motivation for me?
