Jay Manuel: Hey! I am Jay with Style Her Famous. We have Ken Paves, Jessica Simpson's persona hair stylists, and he is going to show you how to get her signature hair. Take a look!
Ken Paves: Some of this the idea here is to take you into kind of honey family blonde like Jessica's color, but the true idea is really to make it compliment your skin. We don't want to go for color, it looks like somebody else's color, but it doesn't work for you. So we are going to alter to the color slightly to more of a neutral color that Jessica has to, kind of, contrast and neutralize some of the red tone, undertones that you have in your skin, it will be beautiful.
Melissa Kelley: Okay.
Ken Paves: And then we'll go over the entire head and highlight just like Jessica's color.
Melissa Kelley: Okay.
Ken Paves: With Jessica's style, she has a lot of fine hair as you do too, incredibly healthy and glamorous, but she also has a lot of great texture and waves and extensions are must. With the extension, they are just going to use, you can let your hair air dry and go naturally. So many times when you see around the street, and she has a great loose wave, she has actually let it air dry.
Some of the residue there, that's the last foil. What we've done, is removed the color from the mid-shaft of your hair, watch this, it should take about 30 minutes and then we go ahead and highlight after that, you will be all set.
Melissa Kelley: Okay.
Ken Paves: Now the time for your extensions. Are you ready for long hair?
Melissa Kelley: I am.
Ken Paves: Now we get to the pretty part. What we're going to do is we are actually going to again -- the idea is to customize color that is perfect and compliment similar to this skin tone. So we're going with the version of Jessica's hair, and actually these are the tones of extensions I used on the These Boots Are Made For Walking video.
So we're going to go with the little bit of lowlight underneath, make it a look incredibly natural because a natural blonde would of course be darker underneath. So by adding the darker colors underneath, and then layering with the much lighter blonde, over-top, it's going to be give me that multi-tonal look, and this is actually Jessica's color. Just going to have her own with 9 extension line, which is called Hairdo, and she not only wears them but she is the president. So she has got her own color. Her color is number 9. So you'll get her color and then a little bit of darker color as well.
I am going to put in straights so that I can cut it into her hair, and it's very important to blend your natural hair into the length of the extension. So I layer the hair all the way through and cut it very similar to the texture -- for the texture layers I create for Jessica with based on your face shape.
We are going to start putting your extensions in and the technique I am doing is called gluing the extensions in. And the reason that Jessica and I choose to glue the extensions in so often, is because this takes a lot less time to put in, and because we change her look so often, this is the easiest to remove as well.
The hair today, there is a really amazing kind of casual elegance that's happening and you have seen around Red carpet for a award show or something like that, that girls are wearing their hair done in the very casual way, but it still finished and polish looking enough to wear with the evening gown.
One of the ways that we create, that is, is rather than doing the typical around the iron barrel curl, which can be looking like surely temple. What we do is we are going to take the hair and we just wrap it around the iron without using the clamp and hold it, like this, for a much natural look.
The way to create a look like this is to not make it look too set or too perfect and that makes it easier for you to do at home.
Jay Manuel: And that's all for Jessica Simpson's hair.
