Hi everybody this is Bob Hutchinson in here in BlogClasses.com. Today, I’d like to talk about getting lists within the search engines. It’s really a very simple thing to do but it can make a tremendous difference in how complete your bloggings discovered by people.
I’ve done it with some of my blogs not all of them, and it can make a big, big difference at least five or six in my blogs are in the top 10 Google when you Google the keywords of it therefore. And the couple of them in the top five and one is on the number one spot and I don’t know anything really about search engine optimization or SEO I’ve just know a few basic things to do, but apparently they work because in just a few some of my blogs have risen to the top of the search engine directories.
So, the most basic thing you have to do is get listed in the search engines, and fortunately this is pretty easy to do because there is a clearing house let me talk about that really quickly, and then I’m going to go live in the internet and just sort to demonstrate for you.
This is why for the search engines like Google, Yahoo and everybody to find your bloggings for you to tell him where it is. And it’s true that they will go use spiders and bats and so on. They can track you down, but going online and registering what the search engines really can speed up the process, and the most important that I’m going to demonstrate for you today in this video is DMOZ.org. It is sort of a clearing house, t’s a volunteer kind of thing, and it’s used by all the major search, private search engines so it checks with them, so by registering with DMOZ you’ll eventually be listed by Google, Yahoo and all the other directories that is not correct it is DMOZ.org not .com so the open directory provides the core directory for all the large private search engines. So that’s we’re going to look at.
Once you registered with DMOZ your blog then I’m going to walk you through the process because it’s really pretty simple then you start when your spare time you start going to some of the other search engine directories like Technorati, that’s obviously for blogs and Alexa, Alexa.com. It’s another directory. There’s a search engine Colossus and then Search Engine Guide. So there’s literally dozens of these search engine directories, so I’ll just Google them.
Some are very specialized, and like there’s real estate search engine directories, so depending on what your blog is about you want to register for some and not rather, but the bottom line is it really helps people find you so you really should do it.
So, now I’m going to demonstrate I want to take you to DMOZ.org and kind of whacky through the process and registering your blog with them, and then eventually they’ll be with all the other major blogs. So hang up for a second and I’ll be back live on the internet in two seconds.
Okay, I’m back. Here we are at the DMOZ.org site. The open directory project and I hope you can see it clearly. It’s really, really very simple. You basically have to find in this all of these categories you have to find your blog, and you can also search for it. So let’s see if blogclasses we can find blogclasses.com it’s not there, so let’s list it. Where will it go game, video games, we’re friends, shopping, world, sports, science, recreation, computers. Okay, I’m just looking here oh let see internet, web design no, free web space, to main names, web design development perhaps. Here we go web locks. Okay, I know what you’re thinking if this is so important why I haven’t done it. The truth is, I haven’t done it with BlogClasses because BlogClasses is just been kind of hobby of mine. I ever believe in too much I’m just kind of doing it spare time. My other blogs are more important to me I’ve done those, but this is good. This is —I should be doing it.
Okay, I don’t really see anything beyond web blogs. Any category more specific, so the next thing we do is we go up here to suggest your—and we come to this site here. I submitted site to the open directory I’ve already read all submission policies and all that before, so scroll down it at URL and I’m going to type in BlogClasses.com is the regular link and the name of the site is BlogClasses.com. And the site description let’s say, see what you used to see BlogClasses.com is an online what you say unlike tutorial is a website dedicated to teaching the beginners how to blog through a series of online video tutorials and emails, there. No more than 25 to three words that’s about right.
Okay, so that’s all is to it then you type in your email address, Blog@BlogClasses.com and they you’ve got to type in the mandatory what do they call that thing? Verification thing so it’s k290 d158 okay fire, and see that it works. Submission agreement, I read this—I have because this is it then submit. Submission received, your site submission has been received. And I don’t know if you review your submission from inclusion of directive. You may take anywhere from two weeks to several months to your site to be listed on partner site, use the open directory.
So there you go. We just listed BlogClasses.com in the DMOZ open directory project. All the other directories will use that. Now I happen to know that Google’s already listing BlogClasses.com if you do a Google search it finds it, but this will greatly help in terms of pushing it up to the top of the list. I’m not saying it’s going to be at the top of the list, but it will help. And all the other search engines will eventually find it through the DMOZ directory. But you should also as I said in the other part of this video you should also go and manually submit your site to as many search engine directories as you can find.
So, anyway, that’s concludes this video on to load this video on the website that will include the email or the URL address for DMOZ.org but it’s just DMOZ.org. And be sure to watch some of the other videos I’m going to post on Basic SEO Tactics Search Engine Optimization Tactics that will help to get your blog found by people searching for you.
Thanks a lot might talk to you later.
