If you have been trying to conceive and having a bit of a difficult time, then you have no doubt heard the words, relax and it will happen. Indeed, for decays doctors and mother have been telling couples the easiest way to get pregnant is to take a relaxing vacation in the sun.
Well, no one was really sure why it worked, for many couples, it certainly did. Now science has finally caught up with Mother Nature to give us some solid evidences to why that sunny vacation boosts fertility and it all has to do with vitamin D, how? When you feel the soothing warmth of the sun heating your skin what's really happening is a local chemical reaction that allows your body to make vitamin D. How does this help fertility? Well in man vitamin D helps produce more testosterone, the hormone responsible for making sperm. In woman, vitamin D works directly on the ovaries to help stimulate follicles to mature and grow into healthy eggs, but what happens when you don't enough vitamin D?
Well, in one study conducted at Yale University, doctors found that many women who are low in vitamin D were not able to get pregnant at all. Other research has shown that even if you do conceive, a vitamin D deficiency can increase the risk for early stage miscarriage, so early you might not even know you are pregnant. The good news, increasing your vitamin D levels can help turn all these reproductive odds completely around. Certainly, if you can, take that relaxing vacation in the sun and you will give your vitamin D levels and your fertility a nice healthy boost and don't be surprised, if a pregnancy happens soon after, but if you just cannot get away or to keep the boost going long after the sun has gone down then increasing your intake of foods rich in vitamin D and taking vitamin D supplements could be your baby making answer. So how much vitamin D do you need to get pregnant faster? Doctors say up to 2000 units daily will help boost fertility odds even if you get no sun at all. Adding vitamin D rich foods to your diet can increase your chances even more.
These include fish such as Salmon, Sardines and Herring, plus four to five milk, orange juice, and four to five soya milk drinks. So there you have it, relax, get some sun, increase your intake of vitamin D rich foods and take vitamin D supplements, and you could get pregnant faster than you think.
