Jay: Hey I’m Jay with Style Her Famous. Watch as Scarlet Johansson makeup artist Joanna Schlip, reveals Scarlet’s movie star makeup secrets.
Joanna: So now, I’m going to apply a foundation and when I apply a foundation, I do with the brush and you’ll find this really easy to get a seamless application. You’re just going to start at the jaw line? And bring it down.
So, just a little bit of concealer, just take it with your fingers and just go right underneath the eye. And you want to make sure that the concealer that you use has a little of a yellow tone to it, tint to it Just because that’s the one area where do you have a little bit redness where we color correct it. And literally, I’m going to use loose powder and go underneath the eyes and all over the face, but the trick is and the reason be is adding a little bit under the eye, is because when I do a little bit of a liner or anytime working with a darker shadow, I don’t want like this fall out. I don’t want to have to redo my concealer.
Jay: Okay.
Joanna: In this way if falls down you just wipe away the powder that you’ve covered. Then we’re gong to move to the base of the eye which is the cream shadow, super easy, you do one eye at a time should it be glow bright in the middle. And then you’re just like windshield wiper it back and forth the shadow.
Jay: Okay.
Joanna: And it’s done, that’s it. So when Scarlet wears a liner and especially a bold liner, she usually uses the very soft shadow. And that’s pretty much the same that’s going to look the best on eye shape. So it’s perfect, I’m not going to use for daytime a liquid liner, a black liquid liner would be way too strong. So, I’m going to use a powder. With a small little brush and instead going black, black, black, I’m going brown black. And it’s really important for daytime to get really close to the lash line. So, you’re getting the definition without it being too dramatic. And so now what I’m going to do, I’m going to curl your lashes. This is a really important step. Especially for you eyes, for your eye shape this will give you that extra Scarlet kind of almond feel. Have you done this before?
Melanie Mann: Never in my life, not ever.
Joanna: Okay good, this is going to fun. Alright, look straight ahead, this is when you grab the lash, you squeeze and then you kind of tap it out. And you just hit it and kind of to walk it out. The reason why we walk it out is you don’t want like a kink. Okay, then one coat of black mascara and just kind of take it to the base of the lash and kind of rock it back and forth. You kind of feel what I’m doing?
Melanie Mann: Yeah.
Joanna: Okay good. And like I said earlier on Scarlet’s look never without a rouge cheek. So it’s really important that you don’t forget your blush.
Melanie Mann: Okay.
Joanna: And this is how you do it, you just smile, see the apple right there? That’s where you target.
Melanie Mann: Okay.
Joanna: And that’s where the color goes. So Scarlet always wears a red lip, but for daytime that’s a little bit hot harsh for you. So, I want o use red, but I’m going to use red gloss. So remember when I was talking with different viscosities and different textures? That’s going to make a big difference. So it’s a cherry gloss as I mean. And I like to apply looks for the brush because I feel like I get more control. So basically, it’s just like cream eye shadow blush lip gloss.
Melanie Mann: Perfect.
Joanna: Mascara, done.
Jay: And remember, go easy on the eye liner during the day. But don’t be afraid to go bold at night and that’s how you get Scarlet Johansson’s movie star shine.
