Hi, I’m Zooey. Gardening is a great fun. You can grow all sorts of wonderful plants and flowers and even fruit and veggie in the comfort of your very own home. And the good news is you can even get your hands dirty too.
Here’s as few very important gardening tools to get you started. A troll is a gardener’s best friend. It’s got all sorts of different uses like making holes in the soil or transporting seedlings to bigger pots. Plant pots are used to plant seeds or seedlings in. And this weeding fork roots out the weeds that grew around your plants giving them a nice clean environment to grow in. A watering can is used to water plants. Now, nearly all plants need water to survive just like us. And of course gardening gloves to protect your hands.
But I’ll let you into a little secret to have a go at growing things yourself. All you really need are few household items. Try finding a toilet roll tube, an empty yogurt pot, and two small empty pot bottles. Now, also find an adult to help you as we will be using scissors to transform these items into gardening tools. This empty yogurt pot will make a fantastic plant pot, just make sure that you wash the pot thoroughly then push a few drainage holes in the bottom to let out the water.
Look, I’ve stocked some blue-tak on the bottom which will help me do this safely. So, you should asked an adult or grown up to help you out with that. And you can decorate it too. You can paint in any style that you like. I’ve got here a few examples here. Here’s one with some flowers or sunshine or even put some squiggles whatever you like, go mad. I’ve even added some soil and planted a seed. Now, this tiny thing is how a plant starts its life. Look at it it’s so small.
I’ve put the plastic bag over the top and I’ve sealed it nice and tight with an elastic band. Now, it needs to go into a warm dark environment. Now, I see you might like to try an iron cupboard, a perfect place so that the seed can wake up or geminate. Now, the bag will actually trap the natural heat energy inside giving the seed a helping hand in growing, a homemade seed germinator.
If you can’t find an empty yogurt pot, I bet you have a toilet roll tube. You can do exactly the same thing with one of this, plus they are super eco-friendly. When the seeds have sprouted, you can even plant it straight into the growing because the cardboard will eventually roll away.
Now, it might not look like one. But here is a great gardening troll, just washed it and dry it, then get an adult to help you cut the bottle in half. You use the top part of the bottle as a handle then cut a scoop shape from the bottom part and there you go, perfect. And if you have another spare bottle then you’re now the pride owner of a watering can. Just make sure that you wash it like thoroughly because although you might like fizzy pop, the plants aren’t taking. So, you see, you really don’t need any money to get gardening, just lots of initiatives and enthusiasm.
