Dr. Suzann Wang: Hello welcome again. Today we are going to be talking about somethings your doctor should consider if you go to him or her for fatigue. A lot of people think that thyroid is a very common cause of fatigue and it's very true it is. There are some things that I want to put on here so that you understood what other things that your doctor should check for other than your thyroid just in case. That the thyroid comes back normal.
So adrenals are the one thing that we have been talking about for last couple of days. Adrenals should be tested by saliva across the day so that your doctor understands how your adrenals are working throughout the day from morning to night. So that's another thing to check for.
Additionally there are some viruses checked for people who are fatigue, especially if you have been very, very fatigue, especially if you had been fatigue for say couple of weeks or more where you are sleeping 14 hours a day or so, Epstein Barr or mono is something to be tested for. The mono spot is not the only test to do often time the doctor will feel mono spot for test and find out well you do or don't have mono. If you do have mono then its fine, but if you don't have mono, it's not necessarily the only test to do for Epstein Barr which is the virus related to mononucleosis.
Additionally sido megalo virus is a virus that is very similar to Epstein Barr in its symptoms and it action also tested for. Especially if you had chronic fatigue for quite sometime, chronic meaning say over a month or so. Another thing to check into, I know doctors look for depression and things. So if you don't seem to have a situation or low shock situation that might have caused you to be depressed or you are not typically prone to depression, make sure your doctor understands that you need to further testing.
Another few viruses that are commonly not taken a look at is HHP6 which a human herpes virus. It's a type of herpes that doesn't have liaisons not colsoregulated not general over herpes related that it will contribute to extreme fatigue. Other things are common anemia. Common anemia is low iron and that's the thing that your doctor will often test for. Make sure that he or she does very complete tests for iron. Theratin must be done; it's not just a red blood cell test or a complete blood count. For more complete information on that you are Dr. willingness is to do theratin he and iron, so that's common thing to make sure that you have, have tested already and you think another things to look for.
Actually high theratin also or something called hemochromatosis is something that can contribute to fatigue as well. We talked about adrenals, we talked about thyroid. Heart conditions can give you fatigue especially if you have shortness of birth on any sort of exertion, make sure that your mineral status is good, meaning that you have adequate magnesium, zinc, potassium. Your doctor should check your electrolytes and things like that. Sometimes lime 00:04:02 has a contributing factor. A number of bacterial or protozoa and parasites can give you fatigue as well. So make sure that your doctor does a full check up on you and does full blood work. Often time's people come to me and say that they passed all of their blood work done, everything possible under the sun and then I find out that they hadn't done common or what should be done in lot of viral tests. So make sure that that's checked for, okay.
Well I hope you find this helpful. And I will see you tomorrow. And tomorrow we will be talking about things to have on your side before you go to see the doctors especially if you need something done and to make sure that your doctor is on top of his or her game. Okay thanks so much and I will talk to you soon. Bye.
