Sarah: Hi, everybody! Welcome to diet.com video. I am your host, Sarah, and I am here with diet.com’s fitness expert, Katrina. Now, bathing suit season is just around the corner so we are going to be showing you a move on how to get your butt in tip-top shape with summer.
Katrina: This exercise is called a single leg squat. You need two dumbbells and a chair or a bench. First, I want you to make sure that you’re currently not far away from the bench for when you sit and you stand up, and your knees do not go over your toes. So, you can just simply do that by looking down.
Sarah: You really have to trust that the bench is going to be there to catch you.
Katrina: Sarah is far away that when she sits, her knees do not go over her toes. And when she sits back, one leg is going in the air. So sit back
Sarah: (laughs) I do not trust that it is there.
Katrina: Back up a little bit. Just start off, step on that same spot and you are going to sit back on the bench and bring the dumbbells forward. That allows you to balance and it lets the fanning of the delts. You want to sit down and then drag yourself up with your heel. So, Sarah is far enough away from the bench then her knees do not go over her toes. One leg is in the air. She sits down, drives her weight into her heel, and stands back up. She is isolating her quads, her glutes and her inner thigh. Good.
