How to Get a Broken Bulb Out of Its Socket

Sure Darken Dingy down here on the basement but it is not going to get any better until I change that broken bulb. Somebody has hit the bulb and broken it off. Now, make sure that the power is off before you do anything. Then, I will have to get rid of this filament here, the inside of the bulb take that out.

Now, there is a number of ways of getting the old bulb base out of there but first of all, never use anything made of metal. You could use the old trick of using a potato, shoving it up in because the potatoes nice and soft and hooks on to the base and screw it out or you could use a wooden broom handle or you can use a new device here called the socket surgeon. A product that is universal for different size of bulbs. Simply shove it up into the sockets, it has a rubber end on it and pull it down for replacement.

Well, there you have it. Now, a low profile bulb that way it would not get knocked off. It is just that easy.
