How to Give a Foot Massage
On behalf of tvlesson.com, my name is Melisa Brown, license massage therapist. You can find me at UNeedaMassage.us. I’d like to show you how to do a foot massage. I'm holding the foot. The person is faced down because that way I have direct access to the foot. I can put my -- put their foot right here on my thigh or I can hold it up. Either way is just fine.
I'm going to start with a forearm roll. I'm just rolling. And I'm using the meat of my forearm. I don’t need to go in because otherwise it’s too bony. So I'm just going in. and I'm going to try and avoid using my fingers at all cost that way I save my fingers. And I'm just going to go in with my elbows and twist and twist, moving my way up and down the foot and twist.
And the pressure that I'm using is not using just my arm. I'm leaning into it. That way I save my elbow and my back too. If I want to get more specific, then what I'm going to do is I want to use the point of my elbow right here and I'm leaning and all I'm doing is opening up my arm. And I can stay for a long time. And then coming around here and opening up my arm.
What happens when I open up my arm is that it just makes it go in deeper. So its not like I have to press down, but all I'm doing is opening up my arm and it goes deep. If it’s a point that really, really is bothersome on them, what I do is I just open up my arm and stay there and count for several seconds. Then eventually, I can use my thumbs. I'm not going to be using them and bending them back in the very tight position by keeping them straight in circular motion.
