How to Give a Neck Massage
On behalf of tvlesson.com, my name is Melisa Brown, license massage therapist. You can find me at UNeedaMassage.us. In this clip, I'm going to be showing you how to work the neck. I'm going to be working the neck from the bottom that they are going to be in faced up position. So all I'm doing is I'm grabbing the head and I'm hooking right underneath in the back of the head.
This is where I'm hooking on both sides. I'm going to be pulling lightly and then I'm going to be doing a circular motion. Now this can be worked, right here, there's a long muscle coming in here and there's a long muscle coming in here. So it’s very important that you do this muscle. It might not feel very comfortable for the person that’s receiving, but there's a lot of tension that’s held in this muscle right here working from the bottom to the top where there is attached. I'm working in a friction way. I'm fractioning all the way up until I get to the attachment here and that’s where I dig in a little bit deeper.
I can do this in a circular motion too. And then I'm going to be working the muscle that’s attached to the clavicle. And then I'm going to be doing the same manner coming all the way to where you start if you’re feeling the bone. When you’re feeling the bone, that’s where I go in a little bit deeper. A lot of tension is held up here. And if I can do this in a circular motion, working up, a lot of tension is going to be relieved here. Before and after I start doing this, it’s always good to hold the head and press it against and away from each other.
