The head; this puppy should have equal length from their nose to this top, from this top to the occiput. The eyes should be deep set on the eyebrows. The eyebrows need not start halfway up the skull as long as it covers the top of the eye. Push them forward. And now we are going to shave them.
What I sometimes do is used a normal stripping knife. Just pull gently through the eyebrow very gently to remove some of the surface under coat because they do get under coat there as well.
Shaping round carefully; don’t go in towards the whiskers, point it away from the whiskers. Here again to shaping end. I missed a bit of hair. Gently take a few of the ends off this side of the eyebrow. That helps to give the quality to the head without making the head look too fine.
Temptation is to remove some of this hair sticking out here but if you do, you’ll loose the correct look of this puppy. This kind it says the eyes should be deep set if this hair is removed and too much eyebrow is removed they no longer look deep set. Just go forward. You’ll always see bits that you have missed. But now we’ve got nicely trimmed head; neater. Stripping here and blend it in nicely with a clipped area there. Different legs are blended in nicely.
This is how she started off this morning as you can see basic shape was there, not groomed nor blended in, the coat being left for several days. Just checks here before we’re going.
So now we are going to clip over the top of the skull. She has a very thick coat here so we are going to use the fining clippers there. That keeps the ears healthy. I’ll do the ear as well.
What I just start doing is taking some of this hair off from under his eyes just a little bit. That’s enough probably on the side. This is purely for hygiene reasons rather than anything else. All the whiskers forward. And start shaping the whiskers here. Then carefully just giving the eyebrows some shape without leaving them too long.
