I'm going to start with his hook here and I'm going to do just what I did with the puppy and I'm going to comb the fur out sort of parallel with the floor. Turn it right back, you must get right into it towards any naughty bits that is left and we can put it right back and then we’ll get a nice even cut.
All right, now this is a bit I hate. I get this bit wrong going to wait enough for it to grow out. And I'm just going to put a little bit of water on just whenever you go and have a hair cut of the hair dressers they always cut it wet with a better finish, same with dogs. All right, good old cheap pair of scissors, start at the top in about half an inch or so out from the bone and I'm going to taper it down to his foot here.
If you’ve got a dog with not very good bone then leave for a bit more on the hook because it gives it an illusion of bone but this boys got very think leg so I think we can take a bit extra off and start here and all the way down.
All right, I clear the little bits away so we can see what disasters we've done. Well, it’s not too bad. Just check again because there are always stray hairs and we can see a few around the edges there that got away. Take it one right down to the foot so this was spurs. And get in right under the side of it at least to have a nice flat appearance from behind for when he is moving away and standing still. Now we go, that’s his hook hoofs most of it.
That’s a sort of finish we’re looking for a nice bend. The next thing to do is underneath his foot again when cut it for the puppy just cutting underneath, cutting all that fur between his little toes and around the edges of his foot as well. Sometimes a bit ticklish. Don’t institute too much about this. Again it’s a just a start to bringing the mud into the house.
All right, and the final little bit with the foot is getting rid of all this stuff around here and giving a nice rounded shape to the foot and again you're just using the points of the scissors this time. I'm just cutting down. It’s very, very small careful bitch. If we can make mistake doing this it takes a month for it to grow out. That’s his back feet done now I work towards the front.
And I'm going to start again by putting the coat from behind his foot parallel with the table and I'm going to trim the bit from what we call the frock which is his little bone or sort fleshy pad behind his knee down to the ground. Now not many people do this, they tend to leave as soon as quite untidy stuff it was dry because in the mud and looks horrible. We don’t want any of this. You can see where it’s been done a long time before. I'm going to pull out the coat, get all those knots coming out with you a little bit of a squirt of water.
And we want a nice line from sort of half an inch or so out. Take and bring down to the foot there. Keep the foot still and you have a battle of course like I have with this one, And now he’s tidy up with the inside bits. Get rid of all those bits that we do not want and angle the scissors very slightly to cut along the edge of the line you’ve made.
Now, let's do underneath his foot. Same again just lift up the pad and then were just going to cut between the toes here and around the edges. We have a slight battle over this foot. It’s so feisty, that’s it. You can see it’s a bit a red here. He tends to chew his feet. He gets a bit bored sometimes in his kennel. You see again he has chewed at here. He’s quite good at chewing a part of his either his leg or his foot. I will show you in a minute how to hide that a little bit.
Anyway, now we have now trim on the top of his feet. Again I'm just going to use a point of the scissors and I'm going to face the scissors straight down to the table. Always find bits you haven’t done before. Okay so his feet a lot tidier and a sort of a show trim but it’s also very practical because it starts getting quite so murky in the house.
Now the next of it, I say I was going to hide this stuff and what I'm going to do for this is just comb it out and that’s what's being brushed out. He’s getting a lot, he’s must have been a bit sore. I have to put some cream on that and I'm going to put a little bit of chalk on it that’s a show black chalk which were allowed to use at shows, we can't use loose chalk. You can only use stuff that’s rock hard like this. Just lift off the foot and we’re just going to rub some chalk in. This just hides any problems like this. That’s a bit better, isn’t it?
