Right, well it’s a little bit of teeth and ears, now the teeth you can do all sorts of things, you can use toothpaste, you can use granules on their food, you can give them marrow bones but we tend to give them Boney-O’s when they go to their kennel time. That does keep all the tartar off their teeth, I mean tartar, his got a little bit on his canines and his big canines here. Any tartar, I’ll use a dental scrapper, now this is quite a lethal piece of equipment, so I’m very careful, I keep cotton wall and antiseptic with me at all times. So that every time I use it, I just quickly dip it into some soaked cotton wall with antiseptic, dog antiseptic because TCP’s and that must be very good for dogs.
We’ll just give it a little bit of cleanse and then their used to this, it doesn’t take a second to sooth this scrapper. Lift that stuff and just get it near the gums and just pull. It does tend to make the gums bleed a bit if your not careful, so she is making it clean. Wipe it under, give the gum a little bit of ripe and that’s it. Collie’s don’t ream either their big kind teeth scrapped for shows, I wont do them today because she’s a little bit hot. Because judges tend to look at their front teeth but they don’t tend to look anywhere else for Collie’s. that’s a good boy, so that’s teeth, very easy, it must have meant sometimes I tend to cheat to use the fingernails at show rather than dental scrapper but the scrapper does do a better job, to the other side quickly.
That’s it, good boy, doesn’t take a second, very quick and that’s quick, go to the stuff just to stop the infections getting in, there we go that’s wasn’t so bad was it? Now this tip is about ears, now sometimes when the puppies are teething, might turn into Lassie and get his horrible pricked ears, now they don’t prick obviously but those are a little trick that you can hope to train your ears over. If a puppy is suddenly getting their ears pricked and that is to use some horrible jalap from the chemist, very old fashioned who care important which is used to treat horses injuries and leg injuries and stuff and its quite gruesome stuff, its grey and foul.
But it has the very useful properties of drying rock hard in the air and also it dissolves in water, so if you need to take it off the ear maybe you just need to comb or you can just dissolve it in water. Just daub the air in some water, so just take a little bit out of the tie bit of fluster, you wont love me very much for this. a little bit on your finger and a bit on the ear you wont put it on as the top tip to the third, just underneath, just about here and just dump it on the ear and once it stuck, a little bit of talcum powder will help it dry. Help it set, just put it on, blow the excess off and it will soon dry rock hard and when you want to take it off, the comb will just dry it, just pull it off or you can just dissolve it in some water.
Now we’ll just go and sort out your toenails. Now the toenails, I don’t like guillotine type of toe cutters because I think they’re lethal. Now I put this wonderful, now look at them like garden scepters, with scissors type things and you can see the nail that you are cutting. Its not hit and miss and our dogs don’t usually have problems with nails, usually dogs are getting older whose nails tend to get longer as they don’t exercise too much. If they have a nail, perhaps we can do this one I suppose which is a question of fitting it into the little snipers and just to go in snip. Doesn’t that reveal at me, let me go snip, you know just go do it with a quick snip and that’s it, very, very easy. Well if you have nails that you get a bit worried about and you don’t really want to risk cutting, I also have a nail file.
When we sit there quite happily having our nails done. Same principle as doing your own nails has got a little bit of groove going out the center of this that fits a dogs nail quite nicely. And this time we just file the nail, now the last but probably more important nails are the GU claws and the inside of the lake, its very important to check they don’t over grow. They do, they get a bit long, again just give them a snip will give them the file, especially on older dogs. All right, he has about as much as I can do, now don’t you think that’s done.
