This is day 2 of our project, and we’ve let the thin set dry for 24 hours, so now we’re ready to grout. Now, of course the first thing you want to do is remove all of your spacers. And today I’m using traffic master grout, and one of the really nice things about this grout is it’s stain proof plus it’s pre-mixed so you use it right out of the bucket. After you get all of your spacers removed, what you want to do is take a damp sponge, so I’ve got right here, and I’m going to lightly go over the surface of your tiles.
And now you’ll take your trowel, dip some grout out of the bucket, what you want to do is hold your trowel at about a 450 angle, and go across diagonally the surface of your tiles, and what you’re doing here you’re forcing that grout down into the cracks to fill up the space between your tiles. Okay once you’ve got a small area done you want to hold your trowel about a 900 -angle and go across the surface of your tile, like this, to make your grout line flush with your surface. Also, it’s getting any excess grout off of your tile. Don’t worry about getting to much grout on top of your tile, right now you’re main concern is just filling in this cracks, we’ll come back in a minute and clean this off the top.
Okay, now that we have a few feet of tile grouted it’s time to clean up. So you’ll need a clean bucket of water close by and your sponge and you’re just going to lightly go over the surface of your tile like this, and it’s important to keep rinsing this out, starting with a clean sponge each time. Now don’t worry if you have to go over your tiles several times, it will eventually clean off. This job took about a day and a half to complete and because we did it ourselves, we saved several hundred dollars.
