How to Grow Flowers in Container Pots

Gord: Container plantings are great. You know, you can bring them up and enjoy them on your patio. But one of the big things about container planting is moisture. Got to have consistent moisture and we brought in Melissa Falk from Just Moss. Hi, Melissa. Melissa: Hi, Gord. Gord: Now, I wanted to plant some estrous but you know, they really needs consistent moisture. You have a little trick for us that we help us plant these needs to be successful. Melissa: Yeah. Gord, we suggest putting moss into the soil. Just mixing up, it helps of water retention. Do not water the plants as often. Gord: Okay. Melissa: It helps a lot. So, what we suggest is even in these you could just mix it into the whole of the soil or in your garden in the top soil. Just top six inches or so. Gord: Even in the garden. Melissa: Yeah! Gord: Okay, well I got some soil here. Let us, me I will let you plant up your pretty pot and I will plant up my little plain (voice overlap) Melissa: Sure. So, we want to do is just take a coupe of handful of sphagnum moss. Gord: Okay. Melissa: Mix it in with the soil. Gord: Okay. Now, is there a percentage, like 20% moss of. Melissa: No, just I do not know what you uses the percentage. Just enough that. Gord: Just the right amount. Melissa: Yeah, 20% -30% would probably be a vote right. Perfect. Gord: Perfect. Okay, excellent. Melissa: Some section there. Gord: Skip some into mine. Right, you do all the work in and off. I will just take all your proceeds here. Now, with that on mine, I am, what I am going to do is that I have got three really cool estrous. I got some nice, really nice fuller flowers to them and I am going to stick them all around the outside, and I have got a lighter colored one which I am going to stick in the middle. And you know, I found with these in good sun. Obviously, we talked about it before consistent moisture and a lot of fertilizer works awesome with them. So, I got a little micro raiser from mine too. Throw some for yours if you like. Melissa: That will be great, thank you. Gord: Now, planting them in, now, with the moss. Now, you had mention alright that I have heard that they are actually some other benefits with moss, putting moss into soil. Melissa: Yeah, there is. Moss, sphagnum is a very high tropolin content which is in natural antibiotic. Gord: Okay. Melissa: It helps with the growth of plants and with root damage. Gord: Okay. Melissa: So, allows for a happy healthier plants. Gord: So, if I am comparing this roots apart for transplants, make sure I can actually make them fit in here. It will help them.
