Fruit Tube
Here we go Ed Laivo from Dave Wilson Nursery. I’ve been walking in here to the Fair Ox demonstration garden where we’ll be looking at some high-density plantings for trees.
Here’s an example of four in a hole these are pear of trees. This is Shinseki Asian pear planted here. This is a Bartlett planted here, another Asian pear planted in the back and then another domestic pear are planted on the other side. Wonderful fruit set and of course, the trees are all of reasonable height. And here we’re looking at some nylon sacks that are actually used to put over the fruit of this apple tree to protect this apple from cuddling moth, very easily done and then twist it on with a twist tied to hold in place. This should make for a very nice wonderful piece of fruit later on in this season.
This is an interesting character here. This is a fig. The fig tree planted in approximately one hole in their teepee shaped. This is should turn out to be a beautiful project. Here’s a great example of hosea Asian pear that of course has been here for quite a long while as you can see probably since the inception of the project in 1998. Here, this tree of course, very nice convenient high, lots of fruit set on this tree. You’ll –there’s not going to be disappointed with the production, height and maintenance responsibilities for this tree.
Ed Laivo with David Wilson Nursery. Here we are looking at a high density planting a plot 1’52 about four feet on center. This a Geo Pride, a flavored grenade and then 2:01, all of them are nicely set for this year, looking good and all of them are at a nice reasonable height easy for maintenance. This is three blue berries in one container. We have sharp blue jubilee and a misty all planted in a wine barrow set pretty nicely for this season, some nice convenient way to enjoy your blue berries and of course maintain a good, healthy planting next to grow in.
Here we go and here’s a four in one whole. These trees planted probably around six or seven years ago and these are a nectarine. A couple of nectarine and couple of peaches all in one hole, haven’t been thinned yet. That lots of fruit, good fruit set and as you can see, the trees are very, very reasonable height.
Why keep the fruit tree short?
Why plant 4 trees in 1 hole?
