Hi, I am David Epstein welcome to Growing Wisdom and we are going to talk today about some of the indoor plants which can survive with lower amounts of light. There are no plants folks that do not need some amount of light but there are some which need less light than other. And I want to start with this particular plant I feed this plant for a long time.
It is a beautiful Prayer Plant it is called a prayer plant one of the reason is just because it closes up at night the leaves are literally will fold up at night this particular plant does benefit from a bit of lower light. The other thing that the prayer plant likes is loves to be misted so you want to miss this a bit once a day if you can during the course of winter month.
One of the ways you know that this plant is not getting enough moisture is that the tips here will start to turn just a little bit brown. You also do not want to keep this to moist or too dry it likes just moderately moist let it dry to out to touch a little bit before you water and that is the prayer plant. Another plant I want to talk to you about is this wonderful Philodendron is called a Moonlight Philodendron.
The Moonlight Philodendron typical a lot of Philodendron can handle less light than other plants. I have my North facing window, it again I let this dry out just a little bit its in this wonderful container which also helps that look a little bit nicer and what I do is when I want to water this I pop it out I go water it and then I put it back in the container. This Mandarin Plant is probably of all the plants I have in my home the one the take the least amount of light.
This actually really does pretty well in shape and you can see that this plant has a tremendous amount of dust. So, I just take a wet paper towel and just should sort of wipe the leaves off and this helps the plant. Remember your plants are breathing through the leaves so it is a good idea if your plants are dusty and you can do this anytime of the year. To really wipe that dust off let the water zip out and let the chlorine evaporate out of it or you can used distilled water with that.
I know that sounds like a lot to do with the plant but it does not do well with the fluoride that in a lot of water. This Lady Palm I have upstairs it is a North facing window couple problem with this plant if you let it dry out, again the leaves are going to turned a little bit brown sometimes the browning of the tips can indicate either over or under watering and I know what happen, was I want to wait for a week and I do not have anybody to come in to water it.
So, it dries out just a little bit too much by next year their will be much thicker and bigger plant. Alright, there are all our tips, hints and helps on some of the lower light plants for your home we hope you will come back every week for of our tips here at growingwisdom.com.
