I am David Epstein, this is Growing Wisdom, obviously fall things like the fern are going and it makes me kind of sad of course but some things wait until the very last moment just before you get your freeze to flower.
This is a Montauk Daisy, other people call it a type of Chrysanthemum but what is nice about this is how white it is and you have heard me talk often about the fact I love white this time of the year in the garden. It loves full sun. I have got it close to the Japanese maple so it is a little bit leggy.
What you want to do is next year, you want to continue to prune this back during the course of the spring and to the early summer, that will help to keep it little bushier. I did not do it this year which is why it got so leggy and if you look closely at this you can actually see some of the buds that are on there, those are next years buds. And what I will do next year is I will remember to prune this back.
But if you are looking for something that flowers late into October early November, the Montauk Daisy it also goes by a lot of other names. It is a great plant to have in the garden. Come back every week for all of our tips, hints and helps here at GrowingWisdom.com.
