How to Grow Tea at Home
To get my local grown caffeine this is my camellia, I’m going to pinch off the new growth and I wanna make some green tea, just go through with your hands and just pinch it off it is really easy to harvest it doesn’t take a lot, very potent, very potent stuff here, I mean I’m trying to get like maybe a tea bags worth of the fresh light green leaves of this really beautiful plant. But it doesn’t take much work or effort and this of course also response well to the application of the year of nitrogen and fertilizer because all I’m after are the leaves and if its starts to flower the leaf production is reduced and I don’t want that just want leaves, because I’m growing green tea not camellia flowers. So continue to pick them here, this plant probably if it were in a very exposed area, a little bit east of here, it probably wouldn’t survive the winter unless it was brought into a sheltered location, and it would probably produce a lot more green tea if I were to put out in a sunny location in the summer instead of in this sort of shady north east facing balcony maybe eventually I can get another plant or this one big enough that I don’t need to buy any imported caffeine from anywhere. So got a nice little harvest of a green tea leaves that I’m just gonna take, the way I make green tea out of this, like I said, if I left them out they would as they dry they would ferment and they became black tea, but I want green tea this got more anti-oxidants, more alkalizing to the body and says less caffeine, the black tea. If you really want caffeine you can let this guys go to black tea and you get more, just by letting them sit out like this but this is a food dehydrator that I have and its actually a cheap food dehydrator that doesn’t , it actually gets too hot so most things I try to dry in here, it kinda cooks them, so it’ not so great but since you likely roast green tea leaves its perfect for green tea, so I actually plug this in and it will roast, you within 24 hours if not sooner and then ill just crumble them with my hands and it will be ready to go.
