Visits to a green house in winter certainly has its rewards. There are so many interesting things to see. And beautiful orchids like this should in bloom. There’s nothing like a few of them to brighten your home. These beauties are thought to be temperamental but nothing could be further from the true. You see the orchid family of plants can be found growing on every continent on the planet except in Antarctica. This family is divided into 4 major groups depending on how they grow whether in trees, on rocks, the king vegetation, or in sand.
If you had not begun at growing orchids, I recommend that you start with one of these. This is the talinopsis or sometimes called moth orchid. They produce such spectacular sprays of solid or variegated, white, pink, lavender, yellow and even red blossoms. When you select one, go for a plant with mature flower buds rather than open blooms and healthy foliage. This will ensure a longer bloom period which could last up to 3 months. Talinopsus enjoy a temperature range similar to what we prefer, about 70 to 80 degrees during the day but a bit cooler at night. This makes them the perfect winter companion in our homes. Now if you’re successful with this plant then give it proper care. It could be around for up to 30 years.
If growing something this beautiful has seemed out of the question for you, you should really give talinopsus orchid a try. I think you’ll be surprised at how easy and enjoyable they are to have around. For the garden, I’m Allen Smith.
