How to Handle an Affair in the Workplace

Brett: My married boss is actually having an affair with one of his subordinates and I do not know if I should mind my own business or how I can go about reporting this without looking like a snitch.

Jenifer Harstein: So Brett, this is a really tough question because I think you have to weigh your own personal abuse of infidelity with how it’s going to impact you in the workplace. So you have a couple of options especially if it’s impacting your work environment directly if you are in a big enough company where there is a Human Resources Department, you may want to go to that Human Resources person that acts as the liaison for employees and ask what to do. Maybe there is an employee handbook that gives guidelines on what employee relations and how they shouldn’t be or should be handled in the workplace and if non of those things exist, you may have to go to your boss directly and voice your concerns to him.
