How to Help Children with ADHD Become More Organized
Hi! My name is Deborah Gray and I am an ADHD patient advocate. Today, I am going to discuss how to help children with ADHD become more organized.
Have a “drop everything zone” near the door through which the child enters the house, where everything he is carrying should be left. Otherwise, his backpack, sport equipments and so on could end up anywhere in the house.
Combat ADHD distraction by using a kitchen timer to help your child stay focused in the morning or at any time when staying on track is essential.
Manage the morning rush by getting ready for school the night before. Lay out clothes and make sure homework and permission slips were completed and in your child’s backpack and that sports equipment and other items for extracurricular activities are ready go.
Make cleaning out your child’s backpack part of homework time. That way, permission slips, notices from school won’t get lost. -- turning to a science experiment and you also have a chance to talk about what activities were coming up at school.
