Hi! This is Tammy again from Ask the Jewish Mom. Today, the subject is how to hire party planner. The first thing you want to do is go to a party showcased in an area synagogue have them couple of times of the year, churches have them, community centers have them, ask around, look in the paper, party showcases as they are called. And they usually show all the different things that are available for major party events in people’s lives.
The party that I am going to describe that I used with the party planner are my children’s bar mitzvahs. They were both evening black tie affairs. And tit was very important that I hired the right party planner to go and execute the ideas that I have. A lot of the things that a party planner could do, I find it very easy to do myself. Most of them are pretty easy and you do not really have to be creative to do them yourself also. So, I highly recommend not spending or using your entire budget with the party planner. Being creative, putting your own spin on it. I know you can do it. If I can do it, you could do it.
Okay, we are back. I gathered some of the items from my children’s bar mitzvahs that are always in the basement or in the garage or everywhere. I always keep them much longer than I have to. The first thing is a basket for the bathroom. Now, here is something that we used that I made for my daughters. This is something that a party planner would charge at least $250.00. What I did was her theme was all the vacations that we have gone on. We love to travel and my daughter is a consummate traveler. So, I took pictures of all the different places that we have been to. I put them on phone cord, blew them up on the computer, trim them with a little bit of glitter glue, snide them on, put a board down and got this little letters cut out from a local scrapbook store. They cut them out with some kind of as little machine they had and her board was fabulous. Everybody loved it. She keeps it in her room and it is a great reminder. Now, here is one that I made for my son. His theme was baseball. We have here a little bit of everything from his party, his invitation, his board with his name on it. This is just taking a bunch of things from his party and putting them together. Here is another one that I made for his and it is his board with all his pictures. Now, something that we had also in the hallway that I did not make which was almost impossible for me to make is as life size poster of my son playing baseball. That is his head on there on ahead a bat but it did break. Here is a picture of my son standing next to his full life size picture of him. Now, my son is probably taller than the life size picture. So, it is kind of amazing to look back at it now. That was as wonderful thing that the party planner did. Here is a picture of my son’s centerpiece for the kid’s table that the party planner did. The ball must have been like one of those phone core or Styrofoam balls. When the ball were all moms that made the shape they made the background of the baseball and the ticking, the red ticking were pipe cleaners and that was sitting on tripod of three different bats with my son’s name on it. That was probably the most spectacular centerpieces for a kid’s baseball theme bar mitzvah that anybody had ever seen. And I loved it. I will never forget that. That is the picture of the really cute boys by the way. They are all in college now and all doing great.
Some of these things are so easy to make. They just take time. If you are one of these women that absolutely have no creativity and you have money to spare and you do not have time, party planners can do just about anything. If you are one of those staying home moms that are creative and just want to put some of your own things on to it, you can do that too.
