How to Hit a Tennis Backhand Volley
Stuart Row: Hi everyone, it's Stuart Row for yellowballfever.com again and now we are going to talk about backhand volley. So, it's just like the forehand volley. We want to have a continental grip right here in the middle of the racquet, we wanted to be in a right position to start out, knees bend, hips loaded, elbows in, and racquet right in middle. As we turn for backhand volley, it's going to be a lot like turning for the slice. We don't want to bring our racquet back all the way, we just want to bring it right to our side, right here, keep the racquet face open, step to the ball with your opposite foot at this time again, make sure you have loaded it down low. So, if the ball comes over you are able to keep the racquet on the same level as the ball without dropping the racquet head. If you drop the racquet head, ball is going to pop up, it's going to die and just fall right in the net. So, once 0.50 same level as the ball where it will come straight through and just push it back deep. If we keep the racquet face open, and we don't let the racquet fall forward like this and we don't let it drop like this, we should have a pretty effective volley. So, that's the backhand volley for you guys.
