Hi! I am Bob McNally for Salt Water Sportsman magazine. Live shrimp are one of the best baits of all types of marine fish. They work for spotted seatrout, they work for Tarpon and Snook and they even worked sometimes offshore like king mackerel, if you can believe that.
Look at the live shrimp, it is difficult, as you have got to be very careful not to hit the dark spots up here on the head, underneath the tarpon, you are hooking just underneath the horn. Sort of the black spot, the black spots are sort of vital, if you pierce those, you kill the shrimp.
We have got the hook point through. And that's all there is to it, you stay as lively like that, little legs kicking, live shrimp is hooked just like this, hooked under the horn avoiding the black spots. This is probably the most effective way to fish a natural looking shrimp.
It would catch just about everything from Tarpon, redfish, seatrout, almost everything of saltwater hits the live shrimp, including offshore fish like goby and even king mackerel. That's the way to fish a shrimp. You're sure to catch more fish doing it this way.
