Hey everybody, it's Anne Good from AD out loud. I want to talk to you today about how to find a responsible breeder. Now, here at AD out loud, we really prefer that you rescue, because literally there’s so many pets that need homes not even just dogs, but cats and other animals also. So ideally, we love you to rescue. But if really sold on finder responsible breeder, I have the easiest way to find one. You ask one question, do they have puppies for sale or do they have a waiting list for their puppies.
So a responsible breeders will not breed their dogs until they know that the all the puppies were going to have homes. Whereas irresponsible breeders who are just looking for the money and not like caring about the dogs so much, they’re advertising the newspaper, they’re sending their dogs over the internet and that kind of thing, and they’re looking for people to buy them after they are already born.
That’s the easiest way that you can find who is responsible and who’s not. Now of course there are great questions that you need to ask too. Ideally, the breeder will only breed one breed, maybe two at the most but they can’t really be really, really experts at a lot of breeds. So you want it make sure that they’re doing one maybe two.
Other things, they should have set of contract to spare neuter their pet because responsible breeder would like to see that only them, or other responsible breeders keep breeding and not just anybody. They will also have you a set of contract that if you can’t ever take care of the dog that you will return the dog to them so that can properly re-home it. So that’s really important also.
And there are little things like, are the dogs outside in the kennel run or they are inside of the family? Ideally, you want them inside, interacting with kids, interacting with the breeders themselves and you want to make sure it’s a clean environment that kind of thing.
It’s also important that they doing health testing and also bring for temperament, temperament definitely matters. It’s the beautiful dog but if it’s an awful temperament dog, you really don’t want to continue that in a line. You want to make sure that you’re breeding for personality and for health.
Anyway, that’s said again, we really, really do encourage the rescue. In fact, if anyone is looking for a dog of any breed, any age whether they want a puppy versus old one, contact me. I love helping people find dogs and I can find you a dog that’s a rescue and that’s a great, great dog that needs a home.
I think some people start and I would be happy to help you if you do need help. But again, one question that you have to ask, if you are going to have a breeder, once again please rescue, please rescue. But you are, if they have puppies for sale or do they have a waiting list before they breed their puppies. That’s the easiest way, one of the easiest way to find a responsible breeder.
Thanks guys, we’ll see you next time.
