From Boston - According to research in the Journal Neurology, migraines may be linked to changes in weather. In a study of over 7,000 people, researchers found that for a 45 degree Celsius increase in temperature there was a 7.5% increase in acute risk of headache. Lower barometric pressure was also associated with an increased risk of headache, but to a lesser extent.
From Sweden - According to research in the Journal Acta Paediatrica, eating fish may improve cognitive skills in teenagers. In a study of nearly 4,000 boys aged 15 to 18, researchers found that those who ate fish at least once a week scored 6% higher on verbal and Visuospatial intelligence tests than those who eat fish less frequently. Those who ate fish more than once a week scored 11% higher.
And finally, from San Francisco - According to research presented to the American Academy of Dermatology, an experimental anti-inflammatory ointment appears to be an effective treatment for plaque psoriasis. In a study of 35 patients, researchers found that 70% of those treated with an ointment containing the drug AN2728 showed improvement after 4 weeks compared to only 6% of controls.
