Hey, guys. In this tutorial, I’m going to be talking about how you can increase your internet’s speed by 20% and this applies to both Windows Vista and Windows XP and there’s no specific browser or settings that you have to use within a Windows tweak.
So, go to ‘Start’, ‘Run’, and type in ‘gpedit.msc’, that’s G-P-E-D-I-T.M-S-C, ‘gpedit’. And obviously open it up and when you do so, ‘Group Policy’ should open up, a window like this. Now, what you’re going to do is on the computer configuration, expand the ‘Administrative Templates’. So, press the little plus sign and then expand the ‘Networks’ branch and then click ‘QoS Packet Scheduler’.
Now, if you head across to the right, you will see six entries over here. Now, look for the one that says ‘Limit reservable bandwidth’. Open that up and choose ‘Enable’ and set the bandwidth limit from 20 to zero and hit ‘Apply’. Now basically, what we’ve done is that we’ve stopped Windows XP and Windows Vista in that case. From reserving 20% of your current bandwidth for themselves for when they have updates and other Windows features that require an internet access. Now, what this does is it removes this 20% from your current connection. So, the basic thing is that, on a day-to-day basis, these updates don’t even take place so this 20% actually goes for waste and we’re only basically using 80% of our current connection.
So now, we’ve set this to zero percent so XP doesn’t reserve any of your bandwidth. If you want to read more about it, just go to ‘Explain’ tab up here and you can get a much detailed explanation there. So, we basically got our IP’s connection that they give out to us and we’re using it to the maximum limit that we can to the greatest advantage and obviously you can get more than what they give out to you but you can obviously use it to the maximum.
