How to Install Apache HTTP Server 2.2.13 for Windows.
Welcome to Myownserver.info, today we’re going to be taking a look at Apache 2.2.13 for Windows. I'm going to be installing it using Vista, but it should be the same on XP and Vista 64 bit. I'm using Vista 32 bit.
First, you need to have downloaded this package. If you haven’t, go ahead and do so now. I downloaded the one with a open SS cells so that’s something you might be using. I would have recommended you using that.
Alright so we’ll click next, go ahead and click accept, click next. Alright you can set this up if you’re using a domain name. I'm definitely not going to be using a Comcast, I'll just go ahead and say local host, and I'll go ahead and change this to local host as well. You can set that up if you’re going to be using a public name, but you need to own the public domain name if so. We’ll go ahead and do that, we’re going to go to custom because I want to make sure it installs everything and we’ll go ahead and install the build headers and library. Now I like to change the installation directory.
So what I'm going to do, I'm going to go ahead and remove all of this right here, and then I'm going to say delete and I'm going to install it to Apache 2.2 directory. That’s simple enough, and then we’re going to go ahead and click next, and then click install.
Alright, and it finished installing. So no we should see this little icon down in there, and it says that it is running. If you need to restart Apache, there’s how you do it. You could stop it as well and click okay. Now, to begin with, we’ll go ahead and I'll show you the test page, it is located at—stop this, go to—type in local host, press enter, and it says it works. Now to show you where that file is located so you can start building your HTML website. You go to computer, go to C drive, and then we installed in Apache 2.2, and then we get a HT docks folder. And there is the index.html file, if we open that as you can see, it says it works. So that was the same one that we reached when we went to local host. And that’s how you install Apache 2.2.13 for Windows.
