To put a cork floor down, all you need to do is to go ahead and seal the surface. Now, if it is concrete or wood, it does not make any difference. You put down a liquid sealer that is the consistency of a real thin milk. Just put it on with paint roller or a brush and about 45 minutes, it dries then you go ahead and put down the glue.
The glue is a little thicker product and the one I use is light blue but it dries almost to clear blue. Once it is dry, it is time to put the tiles down. Cork comes in different styles and different colors. It can come in one foot by one foot squares or one foot by two foot. It also comes in different patterns. It is easy to install. It is easy to cut. All you have to use is a standard razor knife to make your cuts and you are ready to go.
After the tiles are down, you go ahead and distribute like a haggard floor and you urethane it. I happen to like the clear water base urethanes. They dry in as little as one hour per coat and in just one day, if you got the time, you can actually put down four coats.
Oh, there is a couple of other things I forgot to tell you about cork flooring, it is super durable. It will last for years and years and years. It is really a commercial flooring. It is easy to maintain. If the urethane wears out after two years, just put another coat on. You do not have to sand it if you keep up with the maintenance and it is easy to keep clean and you know what, it really hides dirt well.
