Amy Matthews: A granite tile counter top can give your kitchen a high dollar look without the high price tag. Here's what you need to know when installing a new counter top. A layer of plywood topped with cement backer board creates a sturdy base. Dry fitting your tiles insures a professional layout every time.
Female Speaker: A quarter inch notch trowel is used to spread even coats of fix sand.
Amy Matthews: Just make sure your trowel is still angled.
Female Speaker: Then the tiles are put into position, with spacers to leave the room for the grout. The grout is applied with a rubber float. After a day or two of curing, you've got a rock solid counter top.
